Youth Speaks Competition Kicks Off at Nexus

By on Feb 12, 2019 in Blog |

Nexus were delighted to host Youth Speaks on the evening of Tuesday 29th January. This was a superb opportunity to hear a number of well crafted speeches on a diverse range of highly engaging topics from thirty six highly accomplished speakers in Years 7 through to 9 .

We heard about the need to ‘throw away’ fashion, the problems with plastic and a passionate call to consider ‘Veganuary’.

Members of Redruth Rotary Club had the unenviable task of choosing two teams to go through and compete with local schools in the area.

Congratulations to the ‘Throwaway Fashion’ team: Lily Mason (main speaker), Josie Welch (chair) and Isla Richards (vote of thanks) and the ‘Footprints’ team: Arina West (main speaker), Bou Brian (chair) and Ellen Stokes (vote of thanks).
