Year 7s Up The Pace In Speed Chess Tournament

By on Jun 12, 2018 in Blog |

Year 7 students from across CSIA and Nexus took part in a speed chess tournament during co-curricular this Tuesday; students played a variant of “Blitz Chess” in which each player had only 5 minutes to make their moves and put their opponent in Checkmate. There has been everything from nail bitingly close games going down to the final hundredths of a second to rapid checkmates in less than 20 seconds.

Nexus holds a termly Chess tournament with weekly games where pupils pit their strategical, logical and planning skills against each other in the classic board game. Maybe we have a future Grand Master in our midsts?
