On Friday 18th January, 7PPE were given an exciting opportunity to learn about characterisation from an actor and director from The Hall for Cornwall. As part of our study of A Christmas Carol, the class took part in a drama workshop where they learned to apply dramatic techniques when exploring character and viewpoint in the novel. The class discussed their recent trip to watch the highly acclaimed screening of Simon Callow’s one-man reading of the cherished tale and were able to adopt some of the techniques he used when creating the colourful characters in A Christmas Carol.
It was a unique occasion to respond practically to the text and explore Dickens’ viewpoint in a different way. Students embraced the workshop and there was some promising acting on display.
It was a fabulous and creative way to spend a Friday morning and to benefit from the experience of some lively and enthusiastic drama practitioners.
