Nexus 7, 8 and 9 travelled to Exeter University this week for the annual Big Bang Science Fair. The students had the opportunity to explore the STEM related exhibits by higher education organisations and employers, including getting hands on with some amazing Virtual Reality headsets and brilliant chemistry demonstrations.

The group then were treated to a lecture by Simon Watts, the President for Life of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society. His talk was brilliant. His engaging delivery and boundless enthusiasm was breathtaking. The students learnt about many ‘ugly but endangered’ animals, from poisonous frogs to spiders the size of dinner plates. Lydon even got to take part as a judge in a battle between the dung beetle and the Brazilian Wandering spider.

The day was a huge success and we want to thank Exeter University for hosting the event.
